My Statement
The Hollywood Era Beach Scenes series blends minimalist modernism with post-impressionist influences. This work reinterprets the vintage Hollywood aesthetic, distilling its golden age and idealized seaside imagery into a refined exploration of light, pattern, and contrast. Bold stripes, rhythmic compositions, and wide, expressive brushstrokes create a dynamic balance between abstraction and nostalgia, while maintaining a contemporary edge. Layered within the compositions are recurring personal motifs—intimate markers of identity—such as my own cats and a deep affinity for handmade ceramics. These elements disrupt and humanize the compositions, grounding them in a tangible narrative. Each piece invites viewers into a suspended space where the sunlit leisure of an imagined past collides with the vibrant dissonance of contemporary form. |
